The Grande Maumelle Sailing Club (GMSC) recently updated its rules to enhance safety, clarity, and member experience. The revised rules are available on the GMSC website under "ABOUT US | BYLAWS and RULES."

Key changes include a clarified clubhouse pet policy (leashed pets welcome on the deck only), a new reservation system for the crane area, and a refreshed code of conduct. The Emergency Action Plan is now easily accessible online.

The update also clarifies membership privileges, particularly regarding crane usage (restricted to certified full members).

GMSC encourages all members to review the revised rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

In June, Nicole Claas Moore, with the help of Shelby Bellew, led our highly successful Junior Learn to Sail program. This class was one of our largest to date, with around 35 kids aged 7-16 participating. The young sailors learned essential skills including rigging, capsizing, tacking, gybing, and sailing upwind and downwind. A highlight of the program was sailing to WestRock marina for a snack!

A big thank you to the many volunteers who helped ensure the program ran smoothly and safely. Your dedication made this event a memorable experience for all the young sailors.

Our Spring Clean-up Day at the lake was a tremendous success. According to club historian Drew Daugherty, it was the second most successful clean-up day in our history, surpassed only by a frigid day that required defrosting beer beside the burn pile!

The dedicated crew prepared the Optis and Sunfish for summer, cleaned the grounds, dismantled derelict docks, filled two dumpsters with trash and debris, cleaned race committee boats, tidied Kiko’s corner, spread sand on the Hobie beach, and organized the clubhouse and junior shed. The teamwork and outstanding results were truly impressive!

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a great success.
