Race Committee

Our mission is to host the highest quality sailing events that offer all our sailors a fair and safe race environment. We take pride in our year-round racing program, featuring club racing events, regional regattas, and national championships. The success of our 25+ sailing events each year is made possible by the dedication and support of our Race Committee volunteers.

Who can volunteer for Race Committee?

Anyone can volunteer to be part of the Race committee. Whether you're a member or a non-member, young or old, a sailor or not, you can join our volunteering community.

When and how often do I have to volunteer?

Feel free to volunteer with us at any time during the year. Our process is simple and convenient – sign up online for as few as one event annually. We value your time, so when you decide to participate, you don't have to commit to the entire weekend; you can choose to volunteer for just one afternoon of racing or a single day during a regatta. Additionally, we offer the option of becoming an alternate volunteer, someone we can contact whenever we are short-handed and need extra assistance.

I have never volunteered for Race Committee before.
How will I know what to do?

We welcome all levels of experience. The best way to learn is hands-on. Come to an event, and one of our experienced Race Committee Members will happily teach you the ropes.

 Volunteer's Race Day Checklist

We're thrilled to have you on board as part of our sailing club's race committee. Here's a checklist to ensure you're all set to enjoy the day to the fullest:

1. Punctuality Is Key: We'll provide you with all the details regarding the meeting time and location. Being on time sets the tone for a fantastic day ahead.

2. Dress for Comfort and Weather: Choose clothing that keeps you cozy and suits the weather. Don't forget to pack essentials like sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and jackets. Your comfort matters!

3. Step into Confidence: Put on non-slip shoes that will keep you steady while working on the boats. Safety and stability come first.

4. Personal Lifejacket:  While we have Coast Guard approved life jackets on our boats, feel free to bring your own if it's Coast Guard approved and in good condition. Your peace of mind is important to us.

5. Stay Hydrated and Energized: Carry water and snacks to keep you refreshed throughout the day. Though boat space is limited, small coolers are absolutely fine.

6. Capture the Moments: Bring along a fully charged cell phone, binoculars, or a small camera. We'd love for you to capture and share your unique race day perspective with us!

7.  Spread the Good Vibes: While we're all about having fun, please remember that alcohol consumption during race events or while operating club boats is not permitted. Our boats and facilities are smoke-free zones.

Your involvement adds an incredible spark to our sailing club's race committee. Let's make this race day extraordinary!
