Junior Learn to Sail

A class for beginner and intermediate sailors is offered to children and grandchildren of GMSC members at the beginning of each summer for children ages 8-16 and is taught on Optis and Sunfish.

Pre-Requisite: 

• To qualify for the beginner program, applicants must be comfortable swimming in deep water. Applicants must also be able to properly put on a life jacket while in the water. 

• To qualify for the intermediate class, applicants must be able to swim proficiently in deep water, have completed the beginner Junior Learn to Sail class, and be comfortable maneuvering the boat (sailing upwind, tacking, gybing). 

• Applicants and their guardians must agree to obey all rules of the program.

Life Jacket Required:

All participants must bring a Coast Guard approved life jacket in good condition and the proper size (as required by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission).
