About the Gulf Yachting Association (GYA)  GYA

Founded in 1901 and reorganized in 1920, the Gulf Yachting Association (GYA) is deeply committed to promoting the sport of yacht racing along the Gulf Coast and nearby areas. Starting with six clubs, the GYA has expanded to over thirty member organizations, including the Grande Maumelle Sailing Club. The association has sanctioned various yacht events, including interclub competitions, which currently feature the Viper 640 class.

As a member of the United States Sailing Association, the GYA plays a crucial role in representing Gulf Coast sailors on a national level. It organizes quarter-final eliminations for national championships and provides an Appeals Committee for racing rule disputes. The GYA is part of "Area D," one of ten geographical areas within the US Sailing jurisdiction, with representation on the US Sailing Association's Board of Directors and the Council of Sailing Associations.

Despite being landlocked in the heartland of the US, our partnership with the GYA offers unparalleled opportunities to collaborate with sailing clubs across the Gulf Coast. Together, we uphold a shared passion for sailing and a dedication to promoting the sport's growth and inclusivity. Join us in celebrating the spirit of sailing, no matter where the wind may take you.
