On a Saturday morning, the Grande Maumelle Sailing Club (GMSC) was buzzing with excitement as members gathered for a work party to ready the club for the upcoming US Sailing's Championship of Champions. This prestigious event, held from October 2-6, 2024, will bring together top sailors from across the country, with competitors who have earned titles at national, North American, or World championships in their respective classes.
In anticipation of this elite regatta, club members worked together to clean boats, organize the boatyard, and install new protective bumpers on the docks. The task was made easier with fresh donuts and coffee on hand, and the camaraderie among volunteers made for a productive and enjoyable day.
“At GMSC, we are committed to promoting the sport of sailing in our community,” said Commodore Mary Michaels. “This has been possible because dedicated volunteers are eager to share their knowledge and love of sailing.”
